Front Desk Steward

The Front Desk Steward will operate under the direction of the Community Managers to welcome members and guests, answer questions, and provide general support for all front desk services. In exchange for your time, you will receive a membership to MakerLabs, discounts on classes, and more!

The primary duties of the Front Desk Steward are to manage the front desk and assist members. Front desk duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Greet every single person that enters the door
  • Recognize and greet members by name
  • Answer questions in person and by phone
  • Lend out tools / equipment
  • Sell consumables, short term storage and drop-in fees
  • Handle fabrication job pickups, shipping and receiving
  • Following all opening and closing procedures

While some basic tool and shop knowledge is required, these positions are meant to provide learning opportunities. Throughout the course of your work, you will gain practical knowledge in a variety of wood, metal, and digital fabrication tools.

We ask for a minimum 3-month commitment to this position. Though we would prefer to have our Stewards stick around longer, we realize that life happens.After each 3 months of consecutive stewardship, you will receive one free MakerLabs orientation class.

No working member is permitted to be under the influence or drugs or alcohol during his/her shift.

 

How to Apply

We are currently looking for 2 Front Desk Stewards to start in early May. Applicants are always welcome as we will continue to expand our program in the summer.
