junior Fabricator

MakerLabs is looking for a permanent, full-time Junior Fabricator to help design and bring project ideas to life. The successful candidate will utilize 2D and 3D computer aided design (CAD) programs to fulfill the needs of our clients, operate laser cutters and other computer numerically controlled (CNC) machining tools, woodworking tools, and metalworking tools to complete client projects. Although prior experience in these areas would be a bonus, it is not required as we are looking for someone with a can-do attitude that can be trained on all of our tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Communicate with customers
- Determine customers requirements, brainstorm creative and efficient methods to meet them
- Plan around customer needs, control ambiguity and unforeseen changes
- Create and work with 2D and 3D designs
- Design for and operate digital fabrication machines such as the CNC router and laser cutter, as well as traditional power and hand tools

Minimum Qualifications:
·      A passion for making and maker culture.
·      Eager and willing to add to one’s knowledge base and skills. 
·      Knowledge of 2D vector drawing applications required, and 3D modelling experience preferred.
·      Ability to be flexible and work in a team.
·      Must have basic computer skills and a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
·      Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Job Type: Full-time, permanent position. Work hours are generally Noon to 9pm, 5 days per week.

Starting Wage: $21/hr
